This past Wednesday, October 15, 2014, I had the honor and pleasure of returning to The Duplex in Greenwich Village, Manhattan to see Rev. Yolanda’s “Old Time Gospel Hour, Chapter II: BE THE LOVE.” And it was even better than ever!
I have had the pleasure of seeing Rev. Yolanda perform for more than two years now.
I first saw Rev. Yolanda perform for the first time on Friday, April 19, 2013, 8PM, at the William V. Musto Cultural Center in Union City, New Jersey. It was a free show, and it was a wonderful surprise!
When I saw “A gender bending gospel celebration” in the advertising, I was so there!
Her performance last year, was wonderful, and her performance this past Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at The Duplex was one of her best, yet!
And I was not the only person in attendance this past Wednesday who shared this sentiment. Even a fellow Robert had the same idea.
The Sacred Occasion that was being celebrated in her performance was the tenth anniversary of her Sacred Union with her husband, Rev. Glen Morton Ganaway (http://www.glenganaway.com/). Although in her Email (a portion of which I transcribed in one of my previous posts, “Being the Love…”
Since then, I have seen her perform at all but two or three performances at The Duplex. In fact, there was a series of performances in 2013 that I missed; well, I missed the Mother’s Day performance that year, as well as the one in June or July, of that same year.
But on Sunday, August 4, 2014, 6:30PM, I was at The Duplex ready to let the “LOVE” wash over me.
Now, for those of you that are new to “This Gay Man’s Life…” as well as new to me, personally, I AM NOT a religious person. Spiritual, yes; religious, no.
However, I have always enjoyed listening to Gospel music, although it takes a truly talented artist for me to enjoy Country Gospel, and Rev. Yolanda is that truly talented artist.
I invite all of to visit Rev. Yolanda’s Website for more info about her, all she does, and upcoming performances.
If you have Spotify, you can also check out two of her albums and one of her dance mixes, too.
Also, I just found out that she has been written about on the Huffington Post. You can visit read that post by visiting
So, if you are Spiritual or not, religious or not, lover of country or not, lover of Gospel or not, feel free to visit Rev. Yolanda’s Website, check out the music, the photos, and more.
Thank you for honoring yourselves and all you do with great Love, great Joy and great PRIDE.
