Remember the Blue…

This post shall focus on the secular and Sacred Symbolism of the color blue, one of the six colors of the Rainbow Flag.

In the Rainbow Flag, the color Blue represents “Harmony,” especially a blue such as Royal Blue.  When the blue is more of an Indigo color, it represents “Serenity.”

Interestingly enough, I have always Intuited that, generally speaking, all blue Crystals, such as Blue Lace Agate, Aquamarine, Sapphire, etc., have as their general Metaphysical quality in common as “relaxing and soothing, and emotionally healing.”

Personally, I love the color blue.  In fact, I recall while leading one of my “Divine Love Healing Events,” that I taught the participants that their favorite color is their Self-Love Color.  For me, that is blue.  Depending on my mood, navy blue or midnight blue, but definitely blue.

I have always found blue to be a great color for me.  I own more garments in blue, than in any other color.  Blue dress shirts, blue casual shirts, blue briefs, blue boxer briefs, blue socks, blue scarves, (no blue shoes, yet, but I AM long overdue to purchase a pair), etc.

Yes, I do have other colors, such as red, green, black, and white, but blue is the color that dominates my wardrobe.

In Magickal Traditions, Monday is the Day of the Moon, and blue is definitely a Lunar color.

Blue is also the traditional color associated with the Throat Chakra, the Energy Center or “Goddess Gate” of Divine Communication and Divine Creativity.  Wearing blue can assist one in creating a Cosmic (or, rather, Chakra) Connection to one’s Energy Center of both Divine Communication and Divine Creativity.

As a result, this is a great color for singers, public speakers, and any one who uses his or her voice professionally to wear.

Of course, Navy Blue is great for conveying a professional image, while Royal Blue is great for projecting Inner Strength.  Whereas Turquoise Blue or even Neon Blue would convey a youthful image or energy.

I invite all of you to share your personal feelings about the color blue.  For now, I wish all of you Happy Holidays!bluecolor

NaBloPoMo, Day 14: Creating Spiritual Connections…

First, let me immediately state that I AM NOT religious.  I AM Spiritual, NOT religious.  And yes, there is a difference.  A BIG difference.

There are many of us that have either been exiled, excommunicated, or shunned because we follow a different Spiritual Path.  Also, there are those of us that have been Divinely Guided or led to follow a different Spiritual Path than that of the norm.

Also, those of us that are members of the LGBTQ Communities have encountered this experience, probably more so that our straight counterparts.

How did you find your Spiritual Path?  Or did it find you?  How long have you been on your particular Spiritual Path?

Regarding my Spiritual Path, it is primarily Magickal.  I do not use the terms Pagan or Wiccan, but prefer using the term Witch.  My Primary Pantheon is Ancient Egyptian, my Secondary Pantheon is Yoruban/Afro-Caribbean, and my Tertiary Pantheon is that of the Lwa of Haiti.

However, I have worked with other Deities from other Pantheons, including but not limited to Greek, Roman, Irish, Welsh, Chinese, Japanese, as well as Angelic Beings.

In addition, I AM devoted to the Practice of Moon Magick, using the Moon’s Courses to deepen my Cosmic Connection with various Deities, as well as to manifest certain desires.

Furthermore, I have the honor and pleasure of having participated, as well as led and co-led Rituals with the NYC Open Gay Men’s Pagan Magick Circle, and have the honor of being an Initiated Companion of Grove Argentum, a Manhattan-based Chapter of both the Druid Clan of Dana, and the International Fellowship of Isis.

I AM more of a Solitary Practitioner, although I do engage in group Ritual, from time to time.  Frankly, it depends on my mood.  In spite of having very little experience with group Ritual, as opposed to Solitary Ritual, I have some very strong feelings and practices regarding group Ritual, but I digress.

I look forward to hearing from you regarding your Spirituality, or your Spiritual Practice, or even if you are either an Agnostic or Atheist.

Before I close, I wish to acknowledge my newest blog follower, “shaun890.”  Thank you for honoring who you are and what you do.  May you receive Insights, Information and PRIDE from following “This Gay Man’s Life…”

And to those of you who already follow or read “This Gay Man’s Life…” thank you for honoring who you are and what you do.  May we continue to move forward towards a life and a world of great acceptance and great Peace.

Thank you.spirituality

NaBloPoMo, Day 11: Veteran’s Day and a Protection Prayer…

Lesbians, my fellow Gay Men, Transgendered folks, Bisexuals, and our straight allies: lend me your eyes (truly, I do not get tired of writing that)!

Today is Veteran’s Day (at least, in the United States), and tonight, I AM leading my very second, as opposed to my very first Psychic Self-Defense Class.

With that, I would like to offer this Prayer of Protection to all those that are currently serving right now (yes, I AM going to go there).

However, before I do, please feel free to adapt this Prayer for your own Protection (physical and Spiritual) for your possessions, loved ones, etc.

Here we go…

I, Robert Alvarez, Zachariah, the NightFalcon, Sacred Son of Auset and Pan, do hereby call upon all the Divine Powers of the Universe to protect all those that are serving in the military.

I call upon every Goddess, God, Angel, Fairy, Ascended Master, and Saint to cast Your Protective Energies on all those that are serving in military operations, that are called to serve as warriors, both locally, nationally, and internationally, and to protect them as they serve.

I call upon all of You, Celestial Beings that grant Protection, regardless of right and wrong, regardless of politics and propaganda, regardless of any and all ignorance and/or deceit.  Please protect them, please protect us.  Please help everyone involved move in the direction of Peace; Holy Peace, Healing Peace, Honorable Peace.

Thank You for listening to my Prayer.  Amoon, Amen, and so must it be!

Before I close, I wish to acknowledge my newest blog follower: Anna Bayes.  Thank you for honoring who you are and what you do.  May your following of “This Gay Man’s Life…” bring you great Peace, great Protection and great PRIDE.

And to those of you who already follow or read “This Gay Man’s Life…” thank you for honoring who you are and what you do.  May we continue to live lives Divinely Abundant with Protection, Prosperity and Peace.rainbowstripedusaflag

NaBloPoMo, Day 5: “Love the sinner, hate the sin…”

I have heard this expression for more than two years now, and I remain not at all enamored by it.

However, after I left my apartment building to begin my day, running errands and such, I finally realized why this statement bothers me so much.

I have no hate in my complete Being for anyone.  And, I feel that as a Spiritual person, as well as someone on a High Spiritual Path, I cannot afford, in every way, shape, or form to allow hatred in my complete Being.

Now, does this mean I AM going to invite rapists, pedophiles, serial killers and mass murderers to my home for dinner and dessert?  To paraphrase one of Tyler Perry’s characters, “Hell to the fucking NO!”

Today, I do, however, invite all of you to look at where you may be harboring hate, or intolerance, in the name of your religion or Spiritual Practice.

Personally, I AM a Happily-Recovered-Catholic, and a Moon Magick Witch, with a strong connection to the Ancient Egyptian, Afro-Caribbean and Vodou Pantheons.  I have engaged and even led and co-led Rituals with various Magickal groups, and worked with various Deities of other Pantheons.

And not once, when I was a Catholic, in name only, or in my Spiritual Practice, or in my Practice of the Art and Craft of the Wise, have I harbored hatred; not toward myself, nor toward another.

Now, let me clarify something, especially for those of you who have not met me in person, and/or are new to this blog.  I have A LOT of reasons to hate people, I have a lot of reasons to hate life, I have a lot of reasons to be mentally deranged, and go on a killing spree.  Do I?  No, I do not.

Why?  Frankly, the answer is simple: I do not want to do that.

I want to have a life Divinely Abundant with “Peace, Health and Plenty” with some Love, Adoration, Wealth and outstanding Success added to the mix, as well.

And that means that I have no time, no desire to cultivate, no intention of welcoming hate into my life.

Everyone is different.  So many of us have different religions and Spiritual Paths.  We all have preferences and things we enjoy in others (for me, it is usually hot coffee, iced tea, pasta and pastries, and in men, usually, hairy and Latino!).

Am I better than you?  Not for a second!  Do I want to be better than you?  No.  Please, my schedule is busy enough!

However, I invite all of you to look at what you may be harboring, either against yourself or another.  If you do, why?  Is it because of something you are, or something someone else is, or because of something you or someone else said, did not say, did, did not do?  Or, is it because of something you were taught to believe?

Before I close, I wish to acknowledge my newest blog follower, “sarahleelopez4377.”  Thank you for being one of the wonderful straight allies the LGBT community has in ever-increasing numbers.  May you receive great Healing, great Empowering and great PRIDE from following “This Gay Man’s Life…”

And for those of you already following or reading “This Gay Man’s Life…” thank you for honoring who you are and what you do.

I have never heard of this man before, but I love his message.
I have never heard of this man before, but I love his message.
And I never heard of this man before, either, but I love his message, too.
And I never heard of this man before, either, but I love his message, too.

BEING THE LOVE, Continued…

This past Wednesday, October 15, 2014, I had the honor and pleasure of returning to The Duplex in Greenwich Village, Manhattan to see Rev. Yolanda’s “Old Time Gospel Hour, Chapter II: BE THE LOVE.”  And it was even better than ever!

I have had the pleasure of seeing Rev. Yolanda perform for more than two years now.

I first saw Rev. Yolanda perform for the first time on Friday, April 19, 2013, 8PM, at the William V. Musto Cultural Center in Union City, New Jersey.  It was a free show, and it was a wonderful surprise!

When I saw “A gender bending gospel celebration” in the advertising, I was so there!

Her performance last year, was wonderful, and her performance this past Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at The Duplex was one of her best, yet!

And I was not the only person in attendance this past Wednesday who shared this sentiment.  Even a fellow Robert had the same idea.

The Sacred Occasion that was being celebrated in her performance was the tenth anniversary of her Sacred Union with her husband, Rev. Glen Morton Ganaway (http://www.glenganaway.com/).  Although in her Email (a portion of which I transcribed in one of my previous posts, “Being the Love…”

Since then, I have seen her perform at all but two or three performances at The Duplex.  In fact, there was a series of performances in 2013 that I missed;  well, I missed the Mother’s Day performance that year, as well as the one in June or July, of that same year.

But on Sunday, August 4, 2014, 6:30PM, I was at The Duplex ready to let the “LOVE” wash over me.

Now, for those of you that are new to “This Gay Man’s Life…” as well as new to me, personally, I AM NOT a religious person.  Spiritual, yes; religious, no.

However, I have always enjoyed listening to Gospel music, although it takes a truly talented artist for me to enjoy Country Gospel, and Rev. Yolanda is that truly talented artist.

I invite all of to visit Rev. Yolanda’s Website for more info about her, all she does, and upcoming performances.

http://www.yolanda.net/

If you have Spotify, you can also check out two of her albums and one of her dance mixes, too.

Visit https://www.spotify.com/us/

Also, I just found out that she has been written about on the Huffington Post.  You can visit read that post by visiting

So, if you are Spiritual or not, religious or not, lover of country or not, lover of Gospel or not, feel free to visit Rev. Yolanda’s Website, check out the music, the photos, and more.

Thank you for honoring yourselves and all you do with great Love, great Joy and great PRIDE.

Upcoming Posts, Part I…

I AM very big on Divine Guidance (and those of you who follow or read my primary blog, “This Is Who I AM,” http://thetarotman.wordpress.com, you know this all too well), and I have been Divinely Guided to begin a series of posts regarding the LGBT community and Spirituality.

In fact, a little after Midnight last night/today, an acquaintance of mine sent me an Email about DignityUSA (which, like yours truly, was also born in 1970), an organization for LGBT Catholics.

I did not think it was a coincidence.

Also, I have begun formulating a series of posts about the symbolism of the colors of the Rainbow Flag (especially considering that I use a variation of it in virtually every blog post for “This Gay Man’s Life…”).

And, as I love to write about, talk about and blog about books (not to mention buy them in bookstores, such as Giovanni’s Room, borrow them from local libraries, and, of course, read them), you can expect some LGBT book reviews in upcoming posts, too.

Now, I promise I shall read and review books that appeal to Lesbians, Bisexuals, and Transgendered people, too, but yes, it is safe to say that the vast majority of the books I shall review for this blog shall focus on Gay Men.

And my apologies for having taken so long to catch up.  Frankly, between my Psychic Practice, a wonderful professional endeavor, a personal life (I actually have one of those.  Who knew?) reading books, writing in journals and watching everything from American Idol to Gay Porn on the Internet, I have been busier than usual.

And, an unplugged/off-the-Internet day is so very beyond long overdue.

Before I close, I wish to acknowledge my newest blog follower, “jcorbin88.”  May what you read and receive at “This Gay Man’s Life…” fill you with delight, wonder and pride.

And for those of you already following and reading “This Gay Man’s Life…” thank you for honoring who you are and what you do.bornthiswayrainbowflag

Have you been to Yolandaland? Part I…

Those of you that have known me for years, know that when I AM not giving Readings, writing WordPress blog posts, leading Metaphysical Classes, or spending time with people who I love and adore, I AM home.  Either reading a book, writing in my journals, organizing my home, or lounging in bed.

Last year, I began to receive Divine Guidance to make time for attending cultural events.

So, last year, I found out that a local cultural center in my area was featuring a performance of Rev. Yolanda and her “Old-Time Gospel Hour.”

Now, it just so happens that I love Gospel music; in fact, I do not listen to it enough.

So, let me tell you about the Divine Force known as Rev. Yolanda (also known as Roger Anthony Yolanda Mapes).  On her Website, she is listed as a “Singer Songwriter–Interfaith Minister–Gender Bender.”  As someone who has had the honor of watching her (oh, dear!  I AM going to be switching pronouns during this post!), and have spent time with her after her performances, I can honestly say that description is accurate, but all too brief.

Then again, one can only fit so many words, on the top of the Website page, but I digress.

Speaking of which, there is a section of Rev. Yolanda’s Website that is rapidly becoming one of my favorites: “Awards.”  Some of the awards Rev. Yolanda has received (thus far), include, but are certainly not limited to:

Rev. Yolanda’s song “Home” from her newest album, Country Gospel Kirtan was voted the #1 song of 2013 by OutVoice (http://www.outvoice.net);

Rev. Yolanda is a member of the LGBT Hall of Fame (and I must confess, up until I met Rev. Yolanda, I did not know such a thing existed!);

And, of course, this Summer we shall see the release of Rev. Yolanda–The Movie.  You can learn more, as well as see a clip, by visiting http://www.goyolanda.com.

Now, for those of you that have yet to see Rev. Yolanda perform, it is a wonderful mix of Gospel, Country, comedy and, at times, very moving shares about her life.  She is funny and caring.  She often describes herself as “where the Divine Feminine meets the Divine Masculine in the arms of Love.”  And she/he is!

If you have yet to visit Yolandaland, I AM very happy to let you know that Rev. Yolanda has become one of the artists in residence at The Duplex in Manhattan, NYC.  (http://www.theduplex.com).

I have had the honor and pleasure of seeing Rev. Yolanda perform at The Duplex several times already, and thoroughly look forward to more!  Now, the first time I saw her perform, the performance was free, and I have willingly and Lovingly spent money to travel to Manhattan, and then to The Duplex, and then at The Duplex, because I receive so much for my time and money, but I digress.

Rev. Yolanda shall be back at The Duplex on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014, 6:30PM, as well as on Mother’s Day, Sunday, Sunday, May 11, 2014, 6:30PM.  .  If you are in the NYC area then, and want to have a good time with great Energy, I cannot over-recommend going to The Duplex to listen to Rev. Yolanda’s Old Time Gospel Hour, “Chapter II–Be the Love.”

To make reservations, you can visit http://http:www.yolanda.net and click on the photograph of Rev. Yolanda with her arms spread wide.

And in the event, that you cannot make either next month (April) or May, sign up for Rev. Yolanda’s Email newsletter to receive updates on upcoming shows.

Tomorrow, Monday, March 24, 2014, I shall conclude this two-part post about Rev. Yolanda and Yolandaland.

However, there shall be a surprise as to where you shall see it.

Stay tuned!

Before I close, I wish to acknowledge my newest blog follower, “tomlroy.”  May you receive Great Pride and Great Honor from following “This Gay Man’s Life…”

And for those of you already following and reading “This Gay Man’s Life…” may you continue to receive great insight into the life of “This Gay Man’s Life,” as well as the lives of other Gay Men, Lesbians, Bisexuals, and Transgendered people.  Thank you, one and all, for honoring who you are and what you do.EASTERbanner2014
