NaBloPomo, Day 21: Remember the Green…

Here is another post, as part of a series on both the secular and Sacred Symbolism of the colors of the Rainbow flag.

According to the article on the Pride Flag in Wikipedia, the green stripe represents “nature.”  How often do we allow ourselves to spend time in Nature?

Given that I have so many Planets in Earth Signs, I love spending time in parks (no wise cracks, thank you), places with a lot of rocks, flowers, grass and trees.  However, I AM also fond of going to Oceans, Rivers and Waterfalls, places where water flows.

Of course, as someone who has been working with the Angelic Realms since January, 2004, I also love the color green because of its connection to Archangel Raphael, the Divine Healer of the Archangels.  Not to mention the Fairy Folk, or as I refer to Them, the Sacred Fey.

And, I would be remiss if I did not mention the color green in connection to the Heart Chakra.  That Energy Center of Love, Divine Love, Platonic Love, has a strong “Heart” connection to Archangel Raphael, the Divine Healer of the Archangels, Whose Aura is a rich, emerald-green.

Where do you enjoy spending time in Nature?  And what is at the core of your own personal “nature?”

Thank you, one and all, for honoring who you are and what you do.emeraldgreen

NaBloPoMo, Day 18: Remember the Yellow…

Here is another post about the secular and Sacred Symbolism about the colors of the LGBT Rainbow Flag.

Yellow represents Sunlight.  Interestingly enough, when I began writing this blog post, it was a cloudy day.  However, right now, it is approximately 10:18AM, and the Sun is shining quite bright today.

I wish to reassure you that, in spite of being a Night Watchman, a night owl, a nocturnal creature, I do NOT hate Sunlight.  Frankly, I do not hate anything or anyone.  There are some things and people I like, things and people I love, and things and people I prefer.

Do I prefer sunlight?  No.  I prefer moonlight.

And, I AM fully aware that my beloved fruits, vegetables and grains do not grow with the help of moonlight.  They grow with the help of sunlight.

Yellow is a great color for improving the Mind, and increasing the effectiveness of mental faculties.  In fact, citrus oils (especially Lemon, which is yellow) is ideal for mental stimulation.

For those of us that are Nature-Minded, a whiff of a citrus oil can be just the right “pick-me-up!”

In the Hindu Cosmology, the Chakra (also known as an Energy Center, or “Goddess Gate”) that corresponds to the color yellow is the Solar Plexus Chakra, located in the center of the torso, in the xiphoid area.  The Solar Plexus Chakra corresponds to Power and Control.

When we feel in control of our lives, when we feel empowered and free, our Solar Plexus Chakras radiate a sunny, bright golden-yellow, like a glorious sunrise.

Conversely, when we feel fearful of people, life, anything or anyone, our Solar Plexus Chakra can be a mustard yellow, or a greenish-yellow, or even a muddy yellow.

Yellow can also be a color of Positive Energy and a bright, sunny outlook on life.  In fact, most yellow Crystals (including a Leo’s favorite, Citrine Quartz) can help one, Metaphysically speaking, be a brighter, more positive person.

Although I have never had my colors done, I have worn pastel yellow in the past, and it does not work for me.  However, golden-yellow and metallic gold certainly work for me, color-wise.  You can even do a visualization of standing in a pool of light of either one of those colors, and see how empowered and aware you become, as a result.

Tell me about your favorite yellow.

Before I close, I wish to acknowledge my newest blog follower: “jamesrevelsthecomposer.”  Thank you for shining so bright, and for honoring who you are and what you do.  May you receive great Insight and great PRIDE from following “This Gay Man’s Life…”

And to those of you already following or reading “This Gay Man’s Life…” may you receive Bright Blessings of all kinds, now and always.yellow

Remember the Orange…

In the Rainbow Flag, Orange represents Healing.

We can interpret the word “healing” in many ways.

According to  the word “healing” means, “curing or curative; prescribed or helping to heal.”  It also means “growing sound; getting well; mending,” and finally, “the act or process of regaining health.”

Where are you healing?  Are you healing physically?  Are you healing emotionally?  Are you healing mentally?  Are you healing Spiritually?  Are you healing sexually?  Are you healing financially?

Are you open and receptive to healing at all?  You may be surprised how many people are not at all open to healing.

In the Chakra System, Orange is the color of the Sacral Chakra, which is in the area of the genitalia and reproductive organs.  This Chakra has to do with appetite, sexuality, creativity, and how we relate to others.

From a Metaphysical perspective, blockages or leaks in this Chakra co-exist with stifled creativity, sexuality, sensuality, or even feelings of creative, sexual, and/or financial inadequacy.

If any of these feelings are true for you, it is possible that you may wish to consider being open and receptive to working with the color orange as a way of Healing yourself, from the inside out.

A fully healed and healthy Sacral Chakra looks like a rich orange sunrise.  Have you ever seen that rich, coppery red of a sunrise (or a sunset, for that matter)?  That rich, orange, coppery color is what a healthy and vibrant Sacral Chakra looks like.

Also, your creativity flows, be it artistically or in other ways.  Although I AM neither a fine artist, nor a skilled artisan (such as jewelry maker), but I AM creative in how I express my love and adoration to the people I love and adore, as well as with my writing.

Also, when the Sacral Chakra is healthy and well, we express ourselves, sexually in a way that is fulfilling, vibrant, and yes, healing, for ourselves, and for the people with whom we have sex.

And finally, we are capable of not only believing but knowing that we can create, manifest, and maintain financial prosperity.

I highly recommend wearing orange, even under your clothes, as a way of strengthening your Sexual Energy.  In my life, I have had sex with two different men who were wearing orange underwear before I had sex with them, and let me tell you, their Sexual Energy was quite strong, as evidenced in their especially strong erections.

Also, if it works for you, increase the consumption of orange foods, such as oranges and orange peppers, as well as tangerines, and you may wish to use paprika, which for me certainly has a coppery red color.

You may also wish to engage in a visualization of a Light Color Bath.  In your Mind’s Eye, visualize a bright orange beam of light being absorbed into your body, as well as streaming into your genital areas.

You can also work with orange-colored Crystals, such as Carnelian (which, for many, is ideal in healing and strengthening the Sacral Chakra), as well as Orange Calcite.

Of course, an orange colored candle can also help, as well as taking a bath with Orange Blossom Water.

I would love to hear for how many of you this applies.  In other words, have you been experiencing Sacral Chakra issues?  Have you been forgetting or remembering the orange?

Thank you, one and all, for honoring who you are and what you do, and for honoring who I AM and what you do, too.Orange_Background

Remembering the Purple…

On Thursday, April 10, 2014, I published the post, “Red, a la NaPoWriMo…”  You can read it by visiting

I had been Divinely Guided to write a series of blog posts about the colors of the Rainbow Flag.  My intention and desire was to write a poetic post for each color of the Rainbow Flag in honor of National Poetry Writing Month (or, NaPoWriMo, for short).

However, between a very busy professional schedule, followed by a major health scare, followed by a great deal of Healing, and then a busier professional schedule, it did not happen.

Purple in the Rainbow Flag represents Spirit.  Many of us refer to Spirit by different names: Goddess, God, Lord Most High, the Universe, etc.

As an openly Gay Man, and a Witch, as well as a Happily-Recovered-Catholic, I refer to Spirit as Goddess.  Many Jews refer to Spirit as the “Lord Most High.”  Some of us use other beautiful terms, such as “Divine Great Mystery,” or “Universal Life Source Energy.”

What does Spirit mean to you?  Does it represent a Being, or an Energy?  Or both?

When you look at the color purple, how do you feel?

Personally, as a Witch, and especially as a Moon Magick Witch, I especially love the color purple.  I love Amethysts, and have several pieces of jewelry set with that gemstone.  I love purple foods, such as Concord grapes and eggplants, and love Lavender (the herb and the Essential Oil, but also the color).

According to one of my favorite books, The Goddess’s Guide to Love, by Margie Lapanja (Copyright 1999, Conari Press, Berkeley, California), Thursday, Day of Jupiter, is an ideal day to wear purple, lavender, or lilac.

I recall reading a Star Trek: The Next Generation novel in which Counselor Deanna Troi loved wearing purple when she was feeling amorous.

That purple is traditionally associated with the Crown Chakra, located on the inside top of the head, the Energy Center of the Universe and of Spirit, is no coincidence.

For some, wearing purple is also an empowering color.

For example, let us say that you are feeling vulnerable and afraid of taking on a new challenge in your professional life, or beginning a new endeavor in your personal one.  Perhaps wearing purple could empower you in remembering your strengths and help you focus on what needs to be accomplished, as opposed to succumbing to your fears and insecurities.

If you use purple in this way, please share your experience in a comment.

As I AM running behind on another writing project, I AM keeping this short and sweet,.  However, before I close, I wish to acknowledge my newest blog follower, “artgland.”  Thank you for honoring who you are and what you do, and for honoring who I AM and what I do, too.

And for those of you already following or reading “This Gay man’s Life…” thank you for may we continue to radiate purple and our Spirit, brightly, boldly, powerfully, and PRIDEfully.purple

Red, a la NaPoWriMo…

As you may recall, April is National Poetry Writing Month (or, NaPoWriMo, for short).

Also, recently I wrote a post entitled “Upcoming Posts, Part I…” which you can read by visiting and it was during this particular post that I stated that I was Divinely Guided to explore the symbolism of all the colors of the Rainbow Flag.

However, in honor of NaPoWriMo, I AM going to express the symbolism of Red in a poem.

Here we go…
